Buzzer Beater Lands the No. 4 UAH Chargers a Victory Over No. 11 Valdosta State Blazers
In an overtime thriller in Valdosta, Ga., on Monday, the UAH Chargers defeated the VSU Blazers 97 -95 on a last second shot from senior forward Daniel Saylor. As time expired, Saylor grabbed the offensive rebound and laid the ball in for the victory.
Saylor had 14 points and 10 rebounds on the evening, notching his eighth double-double of the season.
In the process, UAH secured its 18th consecutive win and preserved a perfect 13-0 record in the Gulf South Conference. Meanwhile, VSU fell to an overall record of 16-3 with a GSC record of 11-2.
Also heroic in his efforts was starting guard Blake Campbell, who dropped a game-high 30 points, including two free throws to send the game to overtime. Starters Luke Burnett (4-for-10) and Matt Thurman (3-for-6) combined for seven threes and 34 total points.
Overall, the winning factor for UAH arrived at the free throw line, as the Chargers made seventeen to the Blazers nine.
UAH returns home on Thursday to face Lee University with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. TG
