Meet Addison Bentley, a phenomenal student-athlete at Hoover High School who boasts a 4.31 GPA and plays setter for the Bucs volleyball team.
Addison, who is the daughter of Casey and Danette Bentley, has set herself up for success in every way imaginable throughout her high school career. Out of all the advanced placement (AP) and dual enrollment programs, Addison says that AP Chemistry was her favorite. But it doesn’t stop there. Addison has also helped her peers in a tutoring program offered at Hoover, and she’s served as Executive Council Member of the Hoover Ambassador program.
When asked about her plans after high school, Addison said, “I plan to go to school at Auburn University. We are a big Auburn family. We go there a lot for sports and other events, so it just feels like home. I have always wanted to go to college there so I’m super excited to do that.”
At Auburn, Addison says she will likely major in Biomedical Sciences or a similar field and later pursue a Ph. D. to help her conduct scientific research. Addison adds that her mother inspired her into the math and science field.
Although being a student comes first for Bentley, she has also had great success playing volleyball for the Bucs under head coach Amanda Wood. As a setter and an oppo hitter, she tallied up quite the stat line in her junior season: in 141 sets played, Addison compiled 577 assists, 340 digs, 31 aces, and 31 kills. Addison also played a huge part in last season’s Final Four run and is looking to repeat her success and more this year.
Hoover volleyball has high hopes for the 2024-25 season. Coming off a 31-24 record and a Final Four appearance, the Bucs are looking to make the extra push toward a state championship.
Addison Bentley figures to factor largely into that equation. TG
