Alabama men’s basketball guard Mark Sears has been named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award for the second straight season, the Naismith Awards announced on Monday. The annual award recognizes the top point guard in all of college basketball.
Joining Sears on the final list is Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr., Marquette’s Kam Jones, Purdue’s Braden Smith, and Tennessee’s Zakai Zeigler.
Sears currently sits as Division I’s active leader in points (2,706 career points) and is the only player in the SEC to rank in the top-two in the conference in scoring (No. 2, 19.1 ppg) and assists (No. 2, 5.0 apg). He now ranks seventh on Alabama’s all-time scoring list with 1,815 points while at Alabama.
The following is a look at Sears’ top scoring games while playing for the Crimson Tide:

Since 2004, Sears is the 17th player in Division I basketball to have 67 career games with 20 points or more. On Feb. 22, he became the first player in Division I this season to post back-to-back 30-point games (at No. 15 Missouri and vs. No. 17 Kentucky), both against AP-ranked teams. He is the second player to do so in the last 20 seasons.
The winner of the 2025 Bob Cousy Award will be selected in late March. Alabama concludes its regular season by hosting No. 5 Florida at home on Wednesday and traveling to No. 1 Auburn this Saturday. TG
