The University of North Alabama men’s basketball team is looking to go dancing.
Today, the Lions will battle top-seeded Lipscomb University (24-9, 14-4 ASUN) in the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference championship, the winner advancing to the NCAA Division I tournament.
No. 2 seed North Alabama (24-9, 14-4 ASUN) advanced to the final round of the ASUN tournament on Thursday night with a 78-63 win over No. 4 seed Jacksonville inside CB&S Bank Arena in Florence.

UNA and Lipscomb split the season series and were co-champions of the ASUN by season’s end. On Jan. 23, the Lions defeated the Bisons 74-64 at CB&S Bank Arena. Lipscomb returned the favor on Feb. 20 with a 75-63 victory in Nashville.
Sunday marks UNA’s second appearance in the ASUN Championship Final in seven seasons participating at the Division I level. UNA fell to Liberty, 79-75, in the program’s first finals appearance in 2021.
The Lions have appeared in 14 NCAA Division II Tournaments — including two national championships in 1979 and 1991 — but have yet to participate in the Division I tournament.
If North Alabama punches its ticket, the Lions will have to wait a week until NCAA Selection Sunday on March 16 to find out the team’s region, seeding, and Round 1 opponent.
