Secures No. 2 Seed for ASUN Conference Tournament with Win Over Queens
The University of North Alabama (UNA) basketball team is Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champions for the first time in school history.
The Lions completed the 2024-25 regular season with a 74-69 win over Queens inside CB&S Bank Arena in Florence, Ala., on Wednesday. With the victory, UNA wins a share of the 2025 ASUN Regular Season Title with Lipscomb University, who tied the Lions with a 14-4 conference record.
In addition, UNA secured the No. 2 seed for the 2025 ASUN Championship Tournament starting next week. Lipscomb holds the tiebreaker in the standings and is the No. 1 overall seed for the tournament.
Seven ties and two lead changes defined a tight game against Queens on Wednesday, but North Alabama stretched the lead to eight by the final minute. Down five in the waning moments, Queens missed the final shot to the delight of UNA fans, who celebrated on the court.

Playmakers for the Lions were usual suspects Jacari Lane and Taye Fields. Lane concluded the regular season with 20 points, two assists, two rebounds and two steals, making a case for conference Player of the Year. Fields finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while junior Donte Bacchus had 16 points. Fifth year senior Will Soucie ended his final regular season game with 12 points.
The Lions are the No. 2 seed in the 2025 ASUN Championship and will host the winner of No. 7 Austin Peay and No. 8 North Florida on Monday, March 3 at 6 p.m. inside CB&S Bank Arena in Florence. TG
