The Troy men’s golf team entered Tuesday’s final round of the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate tied with host Stetson University for the team lead. Just 18 holes later, the Trojans held a 19-shot victory.
The event was held in Daytona Beach, Florida, at LPGA International Golf Course and included teams from all over the Southeast. Tough conditions defined the tournament, with wind gusts reaching nearly 20 mph.

“Great to get a win this week on an incredibly tough golf course,” Troy head coach Clay Bounds said. “Our guys stuck to the plan from the beginning of the week that the course was going to play hard and that par was a good score, and it certainly was. I am proud of the way they fought and battled through adverse conditions.”
Troy shot even-par in Tuesday’s final round—eight shots better than the next closest team—as 13 of the other 14 teams in the field all shot 10-over or worse on the day.
Earlier in the season, the Trojans won the fall opener at the Argent Financial Classic in Choudrant, La., and Tuesday’s win marked the first instance since 2022 that Troy has captured multiple events in a season.

Troy’s Brantley Scott collected his first career tournament title by shooting 1-under par, including four birdies, three bogeys, and 47 pars. Scott shot 71-72-72 – 215 across three days.
“Also, I couldn’t be more proud of Brantley Scott,” Bounds added. “The way he has comeback from injury last semester to get his first collegiate win this week is truly incredible. Just couldn’t be more proud.”
Troy closed out the week at 13-over as a team, besting a top-five that featured Stetson (+32), Florida Atlantic (+36), UCF (+36) and Campbell (+37).
Individually, Troy’s Lee Poppell fired a 4-under 68 on Tuesday, birdieing the first three holes on the front nine to give him tremendous momentum at the turn. The round of 68 was the tournament’s second-best score and propelled him into a tie for ninth place overall.
