For Northridge High School senior Rilee Hilliker, golf is more than just a sport; it’s a journey that began with childhood clinics and evolved into a competitive passion fueled by discipline, perseverance, and pride in representing her school.

Rilee first picked up a golf club at age nine, attending local clinics to learn the game’s basics. By eighth grade, she was already competing as part of the Northridge golf team – a jump that showcased both her talent and her early commitment to the sport.
Now a seasoned competitor, Rilee has carved out some unforgettable moments on the course. One that stands out the most was going to state as an individual during her junior year, where she shot a 78 and represented her school at the highest level.
“Being able to go to state as an individual was my favorite moment. Even though our team missed going by three strokes, I was lucky enough to go alone and I was very grateful for that opportunity to play,” she says.

Off the course, the Mississippi College golf commit enjoys a full and vibrant life. She’s active in Tuscaloosa Civinettes, participates in pageants, and values time spent hanging out with friends—a refreshing balance to her competitive nature.
When asked what advice she’d give to younger athletes, her words reflect the mental toughness and backbone that have become her trademarks: “If you stick with it and work as hard as you can, you can persevere.”
That same perseverance is what impresses coach Josh Hilliker most, who also happens to be her dad. He’s had a front-row seat to her journey, watching both the highs and lows in the process.
“Her ability to fight through adversity is incredible,” Coach Hilliker says. “One of my favorite memories was last season towards the end of the year. She was really struggling, but she had it as one of her goals to qualify for state finals as an individual. The week leading up to the sub-state tournament, she put in a lot of work and was able to turn things around and qualify. That was a really cool experience.”

To Rilee, representing Northridge High School is an honor she carries with pride. “I think it is really awesome that we’re able to represent our school and the whole student body at all the different tournaments we go to. Bringing pride to the students and members of the Northridge family means so much,” she says.
As she continues to grow both on and off the course, Rilee Hilliker is more than just a strong golfer; she’s a leader, role model, and shining example of what it means to represent your school with heart and hustle. TG
