Northridge offensive lineman/defensive tackle Devin White has many college programs—nine thus far—vying for his talent. Most everyone at Northridge can understand why he is a highly sought-after recruit. Not only does he display elite athletic skills as a member of the Jaguar football team, but his academics are also impressive, as he carries a 3.5 overall grade point average in the classroom at NHS.
Devin says his favorite thing about being a student-athlete at Northridge is that it challenges him to be his best in all arenas of his life.
“I love being held to a higher standard both on and off the field because life is not easy and playing football prepares you for anything,” Devin stated.
Northridge head football coach Ryan Lolley is one of those people who hold him to that standard. Over the last few years, Lolley has been impressed with the way Devin has conducted himself and the leadership he has demonstrated for the Jaguars.
“The cool thing about Devin is that he’s unique in that he’s a big and physical guy who moves well. He has some intangibles you can’t coach or teach, such as his size and speed, but his work ethic is second to none. I’ve been here with him for three years now, and he’s never missed a workout, whether it be summer, in season, off-season, whatever it is, he’s never missed a workout, and he’s never been late,” Lolley says.
Whether Devin selects Arkansas State, South Alabama, Samford, Southern Mississippi, or any of the five other schools pursuing him, the team that eventually lands the 6’4” 290 lb. humble and hardworking star will have an athlete who will elevate their program, be willing to learn, and work day-in and day-out to make himself better, both on the field and in the classroom.
