SEC/ACC Challenge Highlights College Hoops Week

This week, teams from the SEC and ACC will try to determine which conference has basketball supremacy. The second annual SEC/ACC challenge will take place from Tuesday, December 3 through Thursday, December 5 and will pit schools against one another at home arenas throughout the country.

The SEC/ACC Men’s Challenge will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Women’s Challenge being held Wednesday and Thursday. Coverage for the event will be on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the ACC Network, and the SEC Network.

Last year in the inaugural clash between the two major conferences, the SEC picked up 7 wins and the ACC picked up 7 wins in both men’s and women’s action. The Alabama men lost to Clemson 85-77 at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, while the Auburn men defeated Virginia Tech 74-57 at Neville Arena in Auburn. On the women’s side, Alabama lost at Syracuse by a score of 79-73, and Auburn won versus Clemson, 83-53, in a home game for the Tigers.

Alabama men’s basketball (6-2) will look to bounce back from an 83-81 loss to Oregon in the finals of the Players Era Festival Championship game in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Auburn (7-0) hopes to keep the momentum from capturing the Maui Invitational championship on November 27. TG
