Nye Named SEC Player of the Week

Alabama women’s basketball is off to a remarkable start in the 2024-25 season, posting a 13-1 record before conference play begins against Florida on January 2. This past week, a Tide player picked up an individual accolade, as the conference league office announced that guard Aaliyah Nye has been named the SEC Player of the Week.

The announcement comes on the heels of a career-high 30-point performance by Nye against Jacksonville University on December 29. Nye shot 9-of-12 from the field and hit 8 three-pointers—tying her own school record with the most three-pointers made in a single game—in the 93-46 win.

The Crimson Tide and the Gators tip off at 6 p.m. on Thursday from Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. TG
