The Minnesota Twins selected Alabama pitcher Riley Quick in the first round of the MLB Draft on Sunday. Quick was the 36th pick overall and the sixth first round selection for a Crimson Tide player in program history.

A Trussville, Ala., native, the 6-foot-6 hurler appeared in 31 games for the Crimson Tide in 2025 and posted a 10-4 record with a 3.72 ERA. He struck out 101 and had 46 walks across 87 innings pitched.

No stranger to accolades, Quick has already accumulated several athletic and academic awards during his time at Alabama. These include: ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Second Team (2025), Second Team All-SEC – Starting Pitcher (2025), SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll (2024, 2025), and SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll (2022-23).
Quick’s selection by the Twins extends Alabama’s streak of having at least one player taken in the MLB Draft to 47 consecutive years, dating back to 1979. TG
