Fly Bama Fly!
Several former members of the University of Alabama football team made an impact in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Former Alabama and current Eagles’ starting quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 17-of-22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. For his performance, Hurts became the first former Alabama player to be named Super Bowl MVP since legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath won the award in Super Bowl III in 1969. The fifth-year veteran added a game-high 72 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries (6.5 yards per rush).
Devonta Smith, Eagles wide receiver who won the Heisman Trophy in 2020, had four receptions for 69 yards, including a 46-yard third quarter touchdown grab courtesy Hurts. Smith became only the fifth player in NFL history to win the triumvirate of a Heisman Trophy, College Football National Championship, and a Super Bowl. To add icing on the cake, he did it in his home state of Louisiana (Smith is an Amite City, Louisiana, native).

In all, seven former Crimson Tide players were represented on the Eagles’ roster, including LG Landon Dickerson, QB Jalen Hurts, TE Cameron Latu, CB Eli Ricks, WR DeVonta Smith, OL Tyler Steen, and DT Byron Young. TG
