Super 7 Results: Thompson Continues Title Trend, Jackson Dominates

Cold weather didn’t stop fans from attending this week’s Super 7 state championship games at Protective Stadium in Birmingham. According to Alabama High School Athletic Association Executive Director Heath Harmon, total attendance for the week of the 2024 Super 7 State Football Championships was officially announced as 41,264. Wednesday’s attendance was 11,722, Thursday’s attendance was 13,117, and Friday’s attendance was 16,425.

Here are the results of the games, broken down by classification:

Class 1A: Wadley (13-0) 37, Maplesville (12-3) 7

Wadley junior running back Jacquez Wilkes rushed for 312 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to the first state title in school history.

Class 2A: Reeltown (14-1) 49, Tuscaloosa Academy (12-3) 13

On the first play of the game, quarterback Ja’Markius Smith hit Finley Henderson for an 83-yard touchdown reception. In the third quarter, Smith completed a 47-yarder to Demetrius Brown and a 39-yarder to Tae Martin to put the game out of reach.

Class 3A: Mars Hill (14-1) 50, Houston Academy (13-2) 43

Mars Hill Bible quarterback William Mann made a pivotal 75-yard run in the fourth quarter for the go-ahead touchdown to help the Panthers to a third state title since 2018. The game featured nearly 1,000 yards of total offense.

Class 4A: Jackson (14-1) 69, Cherokee County (13-2) 6

Jackson High School quarterback Landon Duckworth threw five touchdowns and was named the game’s MVP. It was Jackson’s first state title since 2011.

Class 5A: Montgomery Catholic (14-0) 17, Moody (11-3) 14

Placekicker J.P. Costa nailed a 23-yard field goal with 3:21 remaining in the game to give Montgomery Catholic is second state title in a row.

Class 6A: Parker (14-1) 28, Saraland (13-1) 17

Parker won the first state football championship in school history behind the combination of Na’eem Offord, who had 98 rushing yards on 16 carries, and Terrence Gaines, who added 78 yards on 19 carries.

Class 7A: Thompson (11-3) 21, Central-Phenix City (10-3) 7

Thompson captured its fifth class 7A titles in the last six seasons. Darian Moseley, who caught four passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns for the Warriors, was named the game’s most valuable player.
