Former Alabama All-American and two-time Olympian Kelly Kretschman was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Kretschman played softball for the Crimson Tide from 1998-2001 and was a four-time All-American. She helped lead Alabama to its first SEC Tournament title in 1998, its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999, and its first Women’s College World Series appearance in 2000.
The hall of fame inductee still holds Alabama single-season records in the following categories: slugging percentage (.986), runs scored (94), hits (102), doubles (22) and total bases (211). She also holds career records for slugging percentage (.766), games started (273), runs scored (288), hits (368), doubles (65), and total bases (645).
Following her collegiate career in Tuscaloosa, Kretschman played for Team USA, winning gold at the 2004 games in Athens, Greece, and silver in 2008 in Beijing, China. She was a three-time Player of the Year in the National Pro Fastpitch League from 2015-17 and nine-time NPF All-Star. She won seven NPF Championships and was the league’s first Triple Crown winner in 2016.
Krestschman currently serves as an assistant softball coach with Team USA. TG
