The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team (11-3, 1-0 SEC) rang in the New Year with its fourth straight win over Kentucky—an 89-74 dispatching at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa. The victory marks the longest winning streak against the Wildcats in Alabama program history.
Star guards Aden Holloway (26) and Labaron Philon Jr. (17) combined for 43 points, while three others had double figures: Houston Mallette had 14, Amari Allen had 11, and Noah Williamson chipped in 10. Holloway’s performance matched a career high he set last Monday versus Yale.
“Great win to start off SEC play. Obviously, Kentucky has a great basketball tradition with a ton of talent on that team,” said Alabama head coach Nate Oats.

The Crimson Tide were 15-for-38 from behind the three-point arc, with Holloway leading the way with 6 made three-pointers. Amari Allen was 3-for-4 from long distance, while Houston Mallette was 4-for-6. Allen led the Tide with 9 rebounds—6 on the offensive glass.
Kentucky (9-5, 0-1 SEC) was paced by Otega Oweh’s 22 points.
Next up for the Crimson Tide is a road trip to Nashville on Wednesday to face the Vanderbilt Commodores. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CT inside Memorial Gymnasium and can be seen on ESPN2. TG
